ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Negele Gorbitu was founded in 1996 following the end of communist rule in Ethiopia and the establishment of the Federal Democratic Republic with geographic divisions according to traditional ethnic divisions. With seed capital of 400 birr, 64 original members incorporated the Negele Gorbitu cooperative on the border of Oromia and Yirgacheffe regions.
Roasted in Stoufvillle, Ontario, Alternative Grounds has been operating as an ethical Canadian producer since 1995. They are passionate about a great cup of coffee and the importance of its origins. In partnership with progressive co-ops around the world, Alternative Grounds is focused on coffee quality, environmental sustainability and fair income for farmers.
