Dr. Karl Wald has been working towards this goal since 2005 when he moved to Sri Lanka and shadowed an elephant veterinarian. Seeing the needless harm that comes to elephants, Dr. Wald started Ellie Pooh as a way to create papermaking jobs and give elephants an even more valuable role.
