Dandarah is a woman-owned social enterprise based in Montreal, Quebec founded by Hala Scador, a woman who grew up in Egypt, inspired by crafts rooted in culture and sharing stories of the people and land. Hala created Dandarah from a desire to share beautifully hand-crafted products beyond the boundaries of her home country and to empower artisans and sustain their age-old crafts.
Dandarah works directly with economically and socially marginalized women and minorities in Egypt. Their goal is to improve the artisans economic and social conditions by providing employment opportunities, sustainable income and access to international markets. Each one of their products are designed to be functional, while preserving the artisans’ traditional techniques.
