In the remote coastal community of San Evaristo, Mexico, a new chapter is unfolding—one rooted in collaboration, sustainability, and shared vision. Over the past months, we’ve been welcomed into the small workgroup and community determined to help strengthen their economic opportunities through fair trade practices and product innovation.

From Local Roots to Global Reach

Our role in the partnership has been to support the community in areas critical to reaching international markets:

A Fair Trade Voice at the Table - ensuring others understand the values and principles involved

Export/Import Logistics – establishing pathways for compliant and efficient trade.

Packaging Design – creating packaging that reflects San Evaristo’s identity while meeting global standards.

Processing & Distribution – ensuring quality and reliability from production to delivery.

Product Development – refining offerings to resonate with consumers while staying true to local traditions.

Milestones Achieved

One of the most exciting developments has been securing a Mexican export agent to represent the community’s products abroad. This step marks a turning point, opening doors to new markets and opportunities. We successfully obtained our Canadian Food Import License. In January, we’ll be touring the salt flats of San Evaristo, deepening our understanding of local production and building stronger ties with the people behind these products.

Looking Ahead

The journey doesn’t stop here. Our next focus is on expanding market access:

Fair Trade Stores in Canada – engaging with retailers who share our values of ethical sourcing and community empowerment.

Community Markets & Whole Foods – preparing to approach larger partners to scale distribution and bring San Evaristo’s products to a wider audience.
