Metal chimes are made from flat sheets/pieces of scrap metal and created by using basic hand tools and machinery. Metal work is a craft practiced in Behat in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India.
Meera Viswanathan grew up in India and later became a CPA in the USA. When she would visit home she would go shopping in rural India and got to know many artisans who had no control over their products or wages as they were living in poverty. By combining her financial training with her upbringing, she started Mira Fair Trade to empower underprivileged artisans in India to attain long-term sustainability and economic independence.
